FAQs
Here are some frequently asked questions:
What is State Farm Neighborhood Assist®?
State Farm Neighborhood Assist® 2022 is a program that awards $25,000 grants to 100 causes across the United States. The program has three phases. First, users submit causes they think deserve a $25,000 grant. Next, the State Farm Review Committee narrows down the submissions to the top 200 finalists. Finally, the public votes to select the top 100 winners. Each winning cause that meets all of entry criteria will receive a $25,000 grant.
How do I submit a cause to State Farm Neighborhood Assist®?
It’s simple. Just visit NeighborhoodAssist.com and click the "Submit now" button. From there, you’ll be asked to tell us about the cause and a little bit about yourself. Please note: we’re also asking you to submit at least one photo with the cause that will be used in the public voting phase. You can submit up to 3 photos, and you’ll be asked to designate one as the main photo for your submission. You must be the photographer or have permission from the photographer to allow us to use the photo in connection with the program and have permission from all persons shown in the photo. Photos should be under 5MB in one of the following formats: JPG, JPEG, or PNG. For more information about the application process and the program as a whole, check out our downloadable 2022 Submission Guide to have all of the information you need in one place.
What causes can I submit?
Feel free to submit any cause that would help improve your neighborhood.
Can I submit more than one cause?
No, because we want to try to extend the program to as many participants as possible, submissions are limited to one per person.
Do I need to be an existing State Farm customer to submit a cause?
Anyone who’s inspired to make a difference in their community is welcome to submit a cause. For more information on the official rules of Neighborhood Assist, head here.
When should I submit a cause?
The State Farm Neighborhood Assist® submission period begins at 1:00:00 p.m. ET on Wednesday, February 16, 2022 and the first 4,000 submissions will be accepted. The submission phase will end when the 4,000 limit is reached.
I know of a local nonprofit that supports my cause. Can I include them as part of my submission?
Of course! Just enter the name of the nonprofit you wish to name into the text box.
I keep trying to submit a cause, but it won’t go through. What am I doing wrong?
Remember that all fields are required, so double-check to make sure all the fields are filled out properly. Please note that some parts of the "About Your Cause" form have character limits.
How many causes will be given grants?
After the causes are narrowed down to the top 200, the public will vote to determine the top 100. Those 100 that meet the Program’s entry criteria will each receive a $25,000 grant.
How much money will each cause receive?
Each winning cause will receive a $25,000 grant. That grant money will be awarded to an associated nonprofit to help make the winning idea a reality.
Who will actually get the $25,000 grant?
The eligible nonprofit that administers the cause will receive the $25,000 grant. If the administrators of the cause are not an eligible nonprofit, an eligible nonprofit can be selected whom they are associated with to accept the grant on their behalf. For more information on eligibility, see the official rules of Neighborhood Assist here.
What is the State Farm Review Committee?
The State Farm Review Committee is a group of State Farm employees who are passionate about creating positive change. The State Farm Review Committee reviews the grant submissions and determines which causes should be placed in the top 200.
How will I know if my cause is selected for the Top 200?
Everyone who submits a cause to State Farm Neighborhood Assist® will receive a series of emails letting them know about the status of the cause they submitted. After completing your submission, you’ll receive a confirmation email. Then, once the top 200 are determined, you’ll get an email letting you know the final status of your submission. A list of the 100 final winners will be posted on the site at 9:00:00 a.m. ET on June 7, 2022.
Will I continue to be associated with my cause if it’s selected for the Top 200?
Yes, your name will accompany the cause description once it goes to the voting round. Additionally, we hope you will stay associated with your cause by helping to recruit votes, raise awareness and get your cause to the Top 100.

Voting starts at 12:00:00 a.m. ET on Wednesday, April 27, 2022. Each person can vote up to 10 times per day during the voting period, which ends at 11:59:59 p.m. ET on Friday, May 6, 2022.
